Customers tell you they are too busy to meet or complete a task. If it happens once or twice, there’s nothing to worry about.
But if it happens regularly, it has a completely different meaning. It’s a polite way of telling you that working with you and your product is no longer a priority.
When working with you gets deprioritized
Success milestones keep moving further away
Value is never realized, and
You have nothing to earn a renewal
If that happens, your job is not to wait until they have more time. It’s not to send more random emails asking whether now is a better time.
It’s to understand why your collaboration has lost priority. You need to ask them:
"What changed since we last spoke?"
"What has become a bigger priority?"
"What would need to happen for our collaboration to become important again?"
Before you can ask them, you need to get them to meet with you. If you invite them to “check-ins” or “status updates”, you will likely be ignored again.
So instead, spark their interest with a decision-oriented subject line like “Should we keep doing this?”
There may be nothing you can do to become a priority again. But at least you get clarity and can stop investing in these accounts and move on.
Your task today:
Schedule (up to) 3 meetings with accounts who are too busy repeatedly. Choose from among those you can’t afford to lose.
